Land and Sea
Last year I proposed to myself that I would document a desirable location to create a photo essay. After searching locations for a few weeks, I came across the beaches of Florida; particularly two beaches: Vilano and Clearwater. Vilano by the Atlantic ocean and Clearwater by the Gulf of Mexico. Two different types of beaches, foodies, atmosphere, vibes and over all culture.
As I made my way into the first few months of shooting at both beaches, I noticed that all the images were turning out the same casual prospective. At this point, I slightly shifted interest from the beaches towards the people that go the beaches. I realized that the people are the ones that makes the beaches to who they are. So for the rest of the duration of the year, my focus was towards the people at the beaches. I encountered musicians, family , friends, total strangers, fishermen and even sea creatures. In addition, I unfortunately, also came across a few weeks of hurricanes force winds and everything else that comes with CAT 3 and 5. After it was safe to back to the beaches, Carefully I was able to find my way and crawl through broken bridges and make it across A1A to get on Vilano beach.
